Tenure-Track Professor in Environmental Humanities

Saint Paul University, a Catholic, diverse, and bilingual institution of higher learning federated with the University of Ottawa, seeks to promote excellence in teaching, research, and professional formation at the international, national, and local levels.

The Faculty of Human Sciences invites applications for a tenure-track professor position in the School of Leadership, Ecology, and Equity.

Required Qualifications:

  • PhD in Environmental Humanities (e.g., human geography, environmental sociology) with established expertise in ecological social movements in the Global South and territorial conflicts;
  • Expertise and skills in engaged ways of teaching and experiential learning, particularly in supervising internships;
  • Ability to collaborate with diverse communities, including university colleagues, students, community partners, and First Peoples in the National Capital Region, on unceded Anishinaabe territory.
  • Academic publications and ongoing research on ecological social movements in the Global South, including ecofeminist and Indigenous movements;
  • Bilingualism in French and English (comprehension, writing, and oral expression): the candidate must be able to deliver courses in both languages upon hire.

Nature of the Position:

  • Teaching in undergraduate and graduate programs;
  • Developing a research program in Environmental Humanities;
  • Administration and community service (e.g., meetings of Faculty Council and various committees at the School, Faculty, and University levels);
  • Developing, managing, and promoting internships in Leadership, Ecology, and Equity at both undergraduate and graduate levels.

Experience:

  • Experience in teaching graduate and undergraduate courses;
  • Experience in developing, managing, and promoting internship programs;
  • Experience in academic program development.

  • Salary and promotion based on experience and the collective
