Tenure-Track Professor of Teaching in Equine Field Service
Applications are invited from qualified individuals for a full-time, tenure-track Professor of Teaching faculty position in Equine Field Service in the Department of Large Animal Clinical Sciences at the Western College of Veterinary Medicine (WCVM).
This position entails a 75% commitment to the equine ambulatory service of the Veterinary Medical Centre while providing supervision and instruction to undergraduate students, primarily those in the fourth or final year of the Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) program. The successful candidate will also contribute to the department’s teaching responsibilities, including lectures, laboratories, and demonstrations in Years 1 to 3 of the DVM curriculum. The remaining 25% of the appointment will be available for other academic pursuits, administrative responsibilities, and related activities.
Applicants must hold a DVM degree or equivalent, as well as a post-graduate degree in a related field. The successful candidate will have an established interest in coaching and mentoring veterinary students and will be required to demonstrate progressive growth and professional development in teaching and educational pedagogy, consistent with the Standards for Promotion and Tenure. To be awarded tenure the successful candidate must be considered an expert in equine veterinary practice through certification by a recognized veterinary specialty organization, such as the American Board of Veterinary Practitioners.
The Equine Field Service currently includes one faculty Lecturer and two Clinical Associates and will be expanding. On-call and after-hours duties are shared among service members. Candidates must possess an appropriate Saskatchewan Veterinary Medical Association license by the start of the appointment, must hold or be eligible to obtain a Saskatchewan driver’s license, and must have an acceptable driving record as determined by the University of Saskatchewan.
Salary bands for this position for the 2026-2027 academic year are:
- Assistant Professor - $113,527 to $135,535
- Associate Professor - $135,535 to $157,543
- Professor - $157,543 to $183,219
Salary is negotiable based on qualifications and experience.
