The Alabama Cooperative Extension System is excited to begin the search for a TES Food Service Worker!
The beautiful Alabama 4-H Center, a full-service camp & conference facility nestled within 264 acres of beautiful forest land on Lay Lake in Columbiana is looking for Food Service Staff to join the team!
This role assists with meal preparation and service, operates commercial kitchen and dishwashing equipment, and helps maintain clean and organized kitchen and dining areas. The position also delivers food and beverages to designated areas and provides friendly, welcoming service to both youth and adult guests. All duties are performed in accordance with safety standards and guidelines established by the Alabama 4-H Center and Auburn University.
Temporary Employment Services (TES), a unit of the Auburn University Department of Human Resources, is an in-house support center established to meet the temporary employment needs of the university. TES provides qualified and dedicated temporary employees in a wide variety of occupations to meet the staffing needs throughout the campus. Temporary employees are hired for a variety of reasons with the most common being:
- Assistance in the place of a regular employee who is absent for a specified period of time
- Additional assistance during periods of abnormal or peak workloads
- Assistance with special projects
- Seasonal work
- Emergencies

Responsibilities
- Set up kitchen for meal preparation.
- Cook meals utilizing commercial kitchen equipment.
- Cook and display meals and break items.
- Operate a commercial dishwasher.
- Keeps kitchen, kitchen equipment and dining areas cleaned properly.
- Delivers food and beverages to designated meeting & dining facilities.
- Prepares and serves meals to guests.
- Must make all clients feel welcome and have exceptional hospitality skills with both youth and adults.
- Maintain all safety standards and other regulations within the Alabama 4H Center and Auburn University guidelines.
Qualifications
- Must be able to read and write.
- Must be able to lift a minimum of 40 pounds.
- Must be able to read labels and menus that are to be prepared and assist with preparing meals for those with dietary food allergies.
