Theology, Instructor, Full-time (Temporary), Non-Tenure Track
The Department of Theology in the College of Arts and Sciences at Loyola University Chicago seeks qualified candidates for an appointment as Temporary Full-Time Instructor beginning Fall 2025. The department serves the University's undergraduate core curriculum and offers undergraduate majors and minors in Theology and Religious Studies. The department also offers an MA in Biblical Languages and Literature, Christian Ethics, and Theological Studies, and Ph.D. concentrations in New Testament/Early Christianity, Ethics, and Theology. We welcome candidates with strong teaching profiles in theology and/or religious studies, with a focus especially in Christian and/or religious ethics.

Teaching responsibilities shall include a 4-4 teaching load within Loyola's undergraduate core curriculum. Candidates must be prepared to teach Introduction to Christian Theology and/or Introduction to Religious Studies, as well as Introduction to Christian Ethics and/or Introduction to Global Religious Ethics. One or more of the following courses that serve the department's diverse multi-cultural and multi-religious student body are also potentially useful: Religion and Gender, Social Justice and Injustice, and Religious Ethics and the Ecological Crisis. A willingness to be engaged in the academic life of the department and to support its undergraduate mission is expected.
Minimum Education and/or Work Experience: The candidate will have a PhD in Theology or Religious Studies at the time of appointment, ideally with focused training in ethics. Candidates for the position must demonstrate clear potential for excellence in teaching and student mentorship, if not already possess a strong record of undergraduate teaching, and provide appropriate evidence of active engagement in the field. The candidate must be willing to support the mission of Loyola University Chicago and the goals of a Jesuit, Catholic education.
Salary Range: $58,500-$63,500
