Job Summary
The Division of Cultural & Communication Studies seeks adjuncts to join its adjunct pool for Mass Comm. Adjunct faculty members are employed on a course-by-course basis, depending on the curricular offerings and course enrollments in any given semester.
Responsibilities
Essential Functions:
- Teach courses at assigned days and times
- Plan lessons using division curriculum that address particular learning outcomes and the needs of students
- Use technology to enhance instruction and assessment
- Design, administer and grade assessments to measure student learning
- Gather and submit a sample of course assignments as requested for documentation for SNU General Education Committee
- Maintain accurate, up to date grading in Learning Management System
- Maintain accurate, up to date attendance record in university required system
- Set up and make proper use of a Learning Management System site for assigned course(s)
- Administer a final exam on the day and time scheduled by the university
- Submit final grades as required
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
- Ability to maintain positive interpersonal relationships
- Ability to work independently
- Ability to operate office equipment
- Ability to provide quality customer service
- Additional duties as assigned
Required Qualifications

- Master’s Degree in Mass Comm or related field or 18 credit hours in graduate level courses in Mass Comm or related field
- Minimum of two years of teaching experience
- Possess strong verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to prioritize multiple demands in fast paced work environment
- Typing and spelling competency
- Experience with various computer software applications
Preferred Qualifications
- Terminal Degree in Mass Comm or related field
- Experience in face-to-face classroom instruction at the undergraduate level
- Experience using discovery learning or inquiry-based learning for instruction
- Experience using the Canvas learning management system
Supervision Received
Receives supervision and work assignments from a designated chair, although other staff members in the unit may provide work direction.
