Truck Driving Instructor
Job Description Summary
Lincoln Land Community College is currently accepting applications for a Driving Instructor for the Truck Driving Training Program to provide a variety of teaching/learning activities that prepare students for the class A-commercial driver's license (CDL) examination and an entry-level position in the trucking industry.
Instructors will perform the following duties:
- Teach classroom portion of the Truck Driver Training Program, including permits, logbooks and trip planning.
- Teach hands on portion of the Truck Driver Training Program, including backing, shifting, and behind the wheel.
- Maintain student files in compliance with ICCB and IL Secretary of State Standards.
- Maintain Truck Driver Training Program equipment.
- Monitor inventory of training supplies, ordering when needed.
- Train new consultants to be effective instructors.
- Evaluate and grade students throughout the program.
- Maintain relationships with employers in the trucking industry and assist with the recruitment of students.
This is a part-time, non-benefited position and starting pay will be $23.00/hr and no more than 27 hours a week.
Position Requirements
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Class A-CDL driver's license with tankers, doubles and triples and hazardous materials endorsements and a current Department of Transportation medical card
- At least two years of verifiable local over the road truck driving experience
- Clean driving record and some training experience
