Tutor - TRIO (Grant)
Job Summary
Reporting to the Director of TRIO Student Support Services, the Tutor - TRIO is responsible for supporting and assisting in the preparation, presentation, and distribution of instructional materials in various divisions and departments on campus. The Tutor - TRIO supports TRIO Student Support Services (SSS) students to become independent learners, persist in college, and reach their academic goals.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
Essential Performance Requirements
• Provides academic support in specific academic disciplines to support student learning and success
• Supports and assists TRIO SSS staff in preparing, presenting, duplicating, collating, and assembling course instructional material
• Assists in filing division or department materials, including purging, updating, and reorganizing existing files
• Supports and assists TRIO SSS staff in various student activities including any courses and activities offered by the College
• Assists students in learning and implementing student learning and success strategies
Service Excellence
• Attends the workplace regularly, reports to work punctually, and follows a work schedule to keep up with the demands of the worksite
• Completes all required training and professional development sessions sponsored through the Tarrant County College (TCC) Institute
• Supports the mission, values, goals, and principles of the College
Supervision
Works under the general supervision of the Director of TRIO Student Support Services
Performs Other Related Tasks as Required

Required Minimum Qualifications
- High School diploma or General Equivalency Diploma (GED)
- One (1) year of experience as a tutor or lab assistant
- At least one (1) course in the specialized field or equivalent experience
Preferred Qualifications
- Minimum 3.00 GPA with grades of B or better in tutoring subject areas
- At least one (1) year's working experience in providing support services to students from various backgrounds
- At least one (1) year's experience in the content area tutored
- At least one (1) year's working experience tutoring in a college environment
- Bilingual in English and Spanish in both written and verbal communications
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Ability to provide subject-specific content to help students achieve academic success
- Ability to work with developmental and college level students
- Ability to work effectively in a collaborative environment
- Ability to use computer applications and enterprise systems, including proficiency with word processing, spreadsheet, and presentation software
- Skilled in excellent customer service and interpersonal skills

The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, and climb or balance. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
Work Environment
The work environment characteristics described here are representatives of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee occasionally works near moving mechanical parts and is occasionally exposed to risk of electrical shock. The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet.
Special Instructions to Applicant
This is a grant-funded position. Continued employment in this position is contingent upon the renewal of grant funding or the position being institutionalized at the conclusion of the grant.
This is a part-time position, with a maximum of 19.5 hrs. per week

Compensation Details
Starting Pay - $16.55
Work Hours
Monday - Friday 8:00am - 5:00pm, Varies based on department needs
