Two Tenure Track Professorships: Building Energy Systems and Construction Economics and Business Model Transformation
Are you a visionary academic in the field of civil and construction engineering? LUT University is establishing a new civil engineering department at its Lahti campus. We are now seeking two professors, one in building energy systems and the other in construction economics and business model transformation, to launch our research and education activities. We are looking for trailblazers to lead the way!
Creating a world where the built environment thrives and people flourish. The LUT School of Energy Systems will launch its new Department of Civil Engineering in 2026. Bachelor’s studies will start in August 2027 and master’s studies in August 2028. The focus areas of the new department are technology-driven growth, business model transformation, and infrastructure resilience. The focus areas are characterised by cutting-edge academic research and a commitment to advancing the global competitiveness of the construction industry.
About the roles: In the building energy systems professorship, you will lead research on energy-efficient and sustainable building systems. The role offers the opportunity to develop innovative ways to address the challenges of the built environment, foster international research networks, and shape new research initiatives in the field. Your previous expertise should involve one or more of the following areas: building services systems, building automation, data management, and intelligent control systems, new cooling and heating solutions, on-site energy storage and production, demand response, integration of structures and systems, future solutions for plus-energy buildings.
In the construction economics and business model transformation professorship, you will lead research on new business models and the changing dynamics of the construction and real estate sector. The role offers a platform to deliver research-based insights that strengthen the sustainability and competitiveness of the built environment. Your previous expertise should involve one or more of the following areas: classical models of construction economics, international real estate business, strategic real estate life cycle asset management, value chain development, digitalisation of construction projects or digitalised services, new technology-driven business.
The roles combine remote and on-site work, with regular presence required at our Lahti campus. Other language skills are considered an advantage. Applicants must meet the qualification requirements for one of the tenure track levels: assistant professor, associate professor, or full professor.
