"Two-Year Limited Term Assistant Professor (Teaching) - Faculty of Science"

The Faculty of Science, University of Calgary, invites applications for a 25-month limited-term appointment as an Assistant Professor (Teaching), with an anticipated start date of January 5, 2026.

The primary focus of this position will be teaching Work Integrated Learning (WIL) courses in the Faculty of Science undergraduate and professional graduate programs. Additionally, the role includes developing content to support the Faculty's Co-op program.

Appointment to the rank of Assistant Professor Teaching requires evidence or promise of teaching effectiveness or competency in teaching and learning, an awareness of how to apply scholarly approaches to teaching and learning practices, participation in reflective practice, and professional learning activities related to teaching and learning.

The successful candidate will primarily teach DATA/QUAC 693/695, ISEC 681/691, and SCIE 505 courses, with possible other courses to be assigned. In partnership with the Science Career Centre, they will also contribute to the development of pre-WIL modules for students participating in our WIL programs.

Responsibilities include:

• designing and developing lecture materials, assessments, and other learning resources
• creating or gathering resources focused on professional skills development for both undergraduate and graduate students
• delivering course material effectively in both in-person and online settings
• engaging in service activities, as appropriate

The successful candidate must possess a Master's degree or higher with relevant teaching experience in a post-secondary setting. As the focus of this position is work-integrated learning, a background in science is not required.

The successful candidate will assist in meeting the institutional goals outlined in the Get Science Done strategic plan for the Faculty of Science, and the University of Calgary Ahead of Tomorrow strategic plan.
