Two-year Visiting Assistant Professor of History
Centre College invites applications for a two-year position as Visiting Assistant Professor of History, beginning in August 2026. Candidates must have a Ph.D. in History or related field by the time of appointment. We strongly encourage applications from candidates who are committed to undergraduate education, will contribute to the depth of our faculty, support our flourishing student body, and utilize a variety of pedagogical practices. We will consider any specialty but especially subfields in transnational, gender, African American, or Latin American histories or the history of science and technology. Candidates should have experience teaching a variety of classes, including the America since 1865 survey as well as upper-level courses. This position carries a 6-course teaching load, which includes a 3-week January Term course.
The successful candidate will join a community of teacher-scholars dedicated to excellent teaching and student mentorship, balanced representation, shared governance, interdisciplinary collaboration, global study, scholarly achievement, and service to the college and broader society.
