Unestablished Teaching Assistant (Part Time, Fixed Term)

Unestablished Teaching Assistant (Part Time, Fixed Term)

Applications are invited for a number of Teaching Assistant posts to support the Department in the delivery of face-to-face teaching. The posts provide valuable experience and preparation for a career in higher education, and are expected to suit recent graduates or others suitably qualified in any major branch of engineering with good communication and interpersonal skills.

The successful candidates will mainly contribute to the development and delivery of the Department's undergraduate programme in multi-disciplinary Engineering. The main focus is on laboratory-based teaching, including physical experiments, workshop challenges, computer-based tasks and drawing-board exercises. The bulk of their time will be devoted to demonstrating and marking these established activities and providing feedback to the students, but they may also support the development of new teaching activities and associated documents. In addition, candidates will be expected to assist with the quality control of examination marking via the Department's script checking process.

The successful candidates will be appointed for 5, 10 or 20 hours per week and must normally be available from 9 am to 1 pm on weekdays during the University's teaching terms. Holiday entitlement will be taken outside teaching terms and outside the period in which script checking occurs. Appointments will be fixed-term, commencing Monday 5 October 2026 to Friday 2 July 2027, and are non-renewable.

Current PhD students should give their PhD Supervisor as their first referee.

Current postdoctoral research staff should consult with their line manager prior to applying and check whether their existing contract allows them to engage in other work.
