Position Description

The Henry Samueli School of Engineering invites applications for a possible full-time Unit 18 faculty position to teach Academic English/ESL during 2025-2026. The position is administered by UCI and the teaching will be at the Dalian University of Technology (DUT) in Dalian, China within the DUT-UCI Joint Program. More information: DUT-UCI Joint Program.

Dalian University of Technology (DUT) is a top university in China with campuses in Dalian. Relocation required; travel expenses included.

Expected to teach full load: two classes per quarter (up to 34 students) or three (up to 23). Courses equivalent to UCI's Academic English 23 and 20.

First-time appointee: one-year with possible 2-year renewals. Salary starts at $68,247 with benefits. Service per DUT calendar; year-round contract 7/1/2025-6/30/2026.

Qualifications

Basic (required)

• Master's in English, TESOL, Applied Linguistics, or related with TESL/TEFL/TESOL certificate
• Demonstrated excellence in teaching Academic English/ESL levels/skills
• Willing to relocate to China

Preferred

• 3+ years ESL teaching with international students
• Proficiency in second language
• Experience living abroad
• Experience with LMS (Canvas)
• Experience teaching English for academic purposes
