Assistant Research Professor in the structural basis of stress signalling systems

Assistant Research Professor in the structural basis of stress signalling systems

Recent developments in prediction of protein structure and ligand binding have created exciting opportunities for discovery of tool compounds to explore hitherto inaccessible aspects of life science. To exploit these developments, we seek a highly independent scientist with capabilities that span the full pipeline of tools required to discover such compounds, including experimental structural determination using multiple approaches and the application and ab initio development of complex computational tools.

The role-holder will serve as the primary laboratory authority in structural biology, biophysics and the interface with chemical biology, as applied to stress signalling systems in mammals. Therefore, we seek a highly experienced structural biologist/biochemist/biophysicist, evidenced by leadership in relevant publications and wide-ranging technical expertise, to lead and innovate research integrating experimental structural determination and biochemistry with computational modelling and AI-driven approaches. They will be responsible for the discovery of novel tool compounds that drive understanding of the molecular mechanisms of stress signaling systems.

The successful candidate will join a small multidisciplinary team within CIMR, contributing, in a leadership role to high-impact projects and mentoring junior researchers.

The Cambridge Institute for Medical Research (CIMR) is located on the Cambridge Biomedical Campus and it is a collaborative institute at the interface between fundamental research and the clinic, with a mission to determine the molecular mechanisms of disease in order to advance human health.

Appointment at Assistant Research Professor (or equivalent) level, is subject to meeting the relevant criteria and Faculty Board approval is required before any job offer can be made.

Funding is available until September 2027 in the first instance.
