POSITION SUMMARY

The University of Providence invites applications for two faculty position in its Prelicensure Nursing Program. We are seeking passionate and dedicated educators who will foster a dynamic, inclusive, and supportive learning environment—one that prepares students to become safe, competent, and compassionate entry-level registered nurses.

In this role, you will play a pivotal part in shaping the next generation of healthcare professionals by contributing to the development, delivery, and continuous evaluation of a comprehensive nursing curriculum. Your work will ensure alignment with professional standards, regulatory requirements, and the University’s mission to educate future healthcare leaders.

As a faculty member, you will engage in excellence in teaching, scholarship, and service. You will also support student recruitment, represent the School of Health Professions (SHP) on university-wide committees, and collaborate with colleagues to enhance the overall student experience.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Teach a representative course load for a full-time, 12-month faculty appointment.
  • Recruit and advise nursing students; supervise students in practicum and internship settings.
  • Conduct program assessment and contribute to curriculum development.
  • Provide service to the program, the University, the profession, and the community.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with area healthcare agencies, associations, and licensure boards.
  • Fulfill academic faculty obligations in teaching, service, and scholarship within the area of expertise, with a minimum teaching load of 60%, as negotiated with the Dean.

Leadership

  • Representation and Advocacy – Represent the program’s goals, strategies, and interests ethically and effectively within the university and externally.
  • Program Development and Improvement – Contribute to the ongoing development and revision of the program by integrating best practices, research, performance assessments, and training evaluations to ensure contemporary and relevant nursing education.
  • Program Evaluation – Participate in systematic program evaluation and assessment to support continuous quality improvement and maintain compliance with accreditation standards (NWCCU and CCNE).
  • Interprofessional Collaboration – Work with other departments and stakeholders to foster interprofessional education and practice opportunities.
  • Diversity and Inclusion – Promote a positive work environment that values diversity, effective communication, collaboration, and consensus-building.
  • Shared Governance – Engage with school and university governance committees on academic, curricular, student, and faculty matters.
  • Team Collaboration – Perform all duties in a manner that supports effective team collaboration and reflects the mission and values of the University and Providence.

Student Experience

  • Ensure a high-quality student experience from recruitment through graduation.
  • Support student recruitment, retention, and success initiatives.
  • Address student concerns and grievances in a timely and effective manner.

Policy, Accreditation, Compliance, and Quality Assurance

  • Assist in preparing internal and external reports, including self-studies and site visit documentation for accreditation.
  • Stay current with trends and best practices in prelicensure nursing education.

Community Engagement

  • Establish and maintain partnerships with healthcare organizations to provide students with high-quality clinical experiences.
  • Represent the program at professional conferences and community events.

Professional Development

  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of higher education, health professions, and nursing by attending state and national conferences and participating in professional development activities to ensure the program remains robust, current, and relevant.

REQUIREMENTS

Education

Applicants must possess a Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) from an accredited institution. A terminal degree (e.g., DNP, PhD) in nursing or a related field is strongly preferred and will be given priority consideration.

Experience

  • Teaching experience in higher education, with a preference for experience in teaching across diverse prelicensure programs (RN-BSN, aBSN, or TBSN).
  • Demonstrated success in curriculum development, program evaluation, and accreditation.
  • Experience with distance education and online learning platforms.
  • Experienced in academic networking and committed to integrating best practices into academic systems and processes.
  • Track record of scholarly activities.
  • Licensure: All candidates must hold a current, unencumbered Registered Nurse (RN) license in Montana or be eligible for licensure.

Join our dynamic and compassionate nursing faculty team and together, let's make a meaningful impact on the lives of students and the health of the community. Your dedication and expertise will be instrumental in shaping the future of nursing practice and healthcare within this close-knit and supportive environment.

Please include cover letter, Curriculum Vitae, Statement of Teaching Philosophy, and Evidence of Teaching Effectiveness (if applicable)
