Essential Job Duties:
The Vector-Borne Disease Diagnostic Laboratory (VBDDL) is seeking a dedicated professional to join their team in a dynamic operational role. The University Program Specialist plays a critical role in ensuring that the VBDDL operates at a high level of efficiency.
This position serves as a liaison between administrative functions and laboratory operations, focusing on workflow optimization, data integrity, and superior client service. The ideal candidate combines strong project administration capabilities with a working knowledge of vector-borne diseases to support veterinarians, research collaborators, and internal teams.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee and streamline administrative and laboratory Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to ensure optimal workflow efficiency.
- Coordinate diagnostic and research activities to align with organizational goals and protocols and make informed operational decisions based on thorough information analysis.
- Manage diagnostic and research databases, ensuring strict data quality and integrity and partner with the Operations Manager to maintain and improve the Laboratory Information System (LIS).
- Assist with administrative financial tasks, including payment processing as required.
- Serve as a primary point of contact for veterinarian clients and research collaborators, offering guidance and troubleshooting support.
- Disseminate scientific advancements and laboratory updates through various channels, including the VBDDL website.
- Facilitate efficient client interactions to maintain high levels of satisfaction and productive professional relationships.
- Apply an understanding of vector-borne diseases to effectively communicate complex scientific information to stakeholders.
- Stay current on VBDDL scientific advancements to ensure accurate information dissemination.
Other Work/Responsibilities:
- Other tasks and responsibilities may be assigned based on the needs of the organization and evolving priorities.
Minimum Experience/Education:
Bachelor's degree and one year of experience related to the area of assignment; or equivalent combination of training and experience.
All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.

Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with the following computer and software: Google Drives, Microsoft Office, Microsoft Excel, Orchard/UVIS, or other laboratory information systems;
- Experience interacting with veterinarians and scientists utilizing diagnostic services;
- Experience in a vector-borne disease research or veterinary diagnostic testing setting.
- Exceptional communication skills and professional behavior including ability to communicate with others in laboratory and veterinary settings.
- Ability to multi-task and work cooperatively with others; Must be able to follow biosafety rules.
