Job Description:
- Developing and updating course syllabi and adapting higher education study programmes to current academic and professional requirements.
- Organising or co-organising all activities related to course delivery in accordance with the syllabus and developments in the discipline, including coordinating and supervising the work of other course staff (teaching assistants, technical staff and other collaborators).
- Delivering lectures, leading seminars, and carrying out other teaching activities.
- Preparing, administering, grading and reviewing examinations and other forms of student assessment.
- Supervising students in the preparation of bachelor's theses and other academic work.
- Participating in other activities related to teaching within the field of expertise (e.g. recognition of qualifications, etc.).
- Conducting scientific research and contributing to the development of concepts, theories and methodologies.
- Ensuring a safe and healthy working environment for employees and students of the department, including providing appropriate training and information for persons working with hazardous substances, ensuring the use of personal protective equipment, and implementing other occupational safety measures.
- Supervising students' research and study activities and mentoring students in the preparation of bachelor's theses and other academic work.
- Conducting scientific research and developing concepts, theories and methodologies in the field of Physics.
- Participating in other activities related to teaching and scientific research within the field of expertise (e.g. recognition of qualifications, expert evaluations, etc.).
- Performing other duties assigned by the Dean, Vice-Deans or the Head of the Department that fall within the broader professional scope of the position.

Conditions for the position:
Required education (level and area):
- Doctorate (PhD – previous system) in Physics or a doctoral degree (third-cycle Bologna programme/PhD) in Physics
- A valid academic title (habilitation): Assistant Professor in the field of Physics.
- Desirable experience in participating in international research projects and working in an international environment, as well as experience in organizing and leading teams, professional groups or organizations, and in organizing and delivering professional education and training.
- Experience in teaching students at the higher education level.
- The candidate meets the qualification requirement if they hold a valid academic title awarded by the University of Ljubljana, or a valid academic title awarded by another institution that is recognized by the University of Ljubljana through its title recognition procedure, or hold a valid title of Visiting Teacher at the University of Ljubljana, or meet the minimum quantitative and qualitative criteria for appointment to the academic title in accordance with the Statutes of the University of Ljubljana and the Criteria for Elections to the Titles of Higher Education Teachers, Researchers and Associates of the University of Ljubljana for the academic title of higher education teacher (Assistant Professor, Associate Professor or Full Professor). Candidates who do not yet hold the above-mentioned academic title at the time of application but meet the quantitative and qualitative criteria for appointment may also apply. In such cases, they must submit evidence of meeting the required criteria together with their application and include a statement consenting that, if selected by the selection committee, their application will also be considered as an application for appointment to the academic title or for recognition of an equivalent academic title.
- Active command of English and proficiency in the Slovenian language at CEFR level B2. If the selected candidate does not meet the Slovenian language requirement at the time of employment, they must fulfil it within three years of the start of employment.
