Tenure faculty (regardless of rank) - persons with the titles of professor, associate professor, assistant professor and instructor who serve on appointments totaling 50% or more service to the university and who are eligible for tenure or who have obtained tenure. Duties and responsibilities are assigned in accordance with the workload guidelines laid out in the pattern of administration of each faculty member’s tenure initiation unit (TIU) and, as appropriate, regional campus; obligations will include research, service and/or teaching or clinical practice. These faculty will have earned doctorate or other terminal degree in the relevant field of study or possession of equivalent experience.

Additional Information: Position Overview

The successful candidates will be nationally or internationally recognized investigators who have established independent and impactful research programs in areas relevant to genitourinary malignancies, with particular applicability to bladder and/or prostate cancer. This unique cluster hire—supported by the rich scientific environments of the Ohio State University Comprehensive Cancer Center (OSUCCC) and the College of Medicine, in partnership with a leading clinical department—offers an exceptional opportunity to leverage shared strengths in cancer biology, tumor immunology, comparative oncology, translational therapeutics, and investigator-initiated clinical trials. The initiative is intentionally cross-cutting, designed to foster synergy across departments and colleges, and to position The Ohio State University as a national leader in genitourinary cancer research and discovery.

Applicants will be expected to engage in collaborative research that strengthens and expands existing institutional partnerships, while contributing to the training and mentorship of graduate students, postdoctoral fellows, residents, and clinical fellows. Candidates must hold a doctoral degree (MD, PhD, or equivalent) and demonstrate a record of sustained extramural funding and impactful scholarly publication. The successful applicants will possess outstanding interpersonal and communication skills, a strong commitment to teamwork, and the ability to thrive in a highly collaborative, interdisciplinary environment. Successful Candidate Qualifications:

Applicants must have:

  • A medical degree or a terminal research degree (PhD or equivalent) in a relevant discipline.
  • An actively funded research program in basic or translational research relevant to bladder and/or prostate cancers.
  • A record of scholarly achievement and a history of sustained funding at the level appropriate to the applicant’s seniority and professional experience.
  • Demonstrated potential for successfully teaching and mentoring students, trainees, and/or junior faculty
  • Exceptional organizational and communication skills for work in an interdisciplinary department.
  • Qualifications for an academic appointment at the Associate Professor or Professor rank in the Department of Urology

The Department of Urology at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center is nationally recognized by U.S. News & World Report for delivering the highest quality of care for the treatment of urologic conditions. Our vision is to transform the lives of our patients through this comprehensive approach to urologic practice. The Department of Urology has a rich history and timeline dating back to 1917. Under the leadership of Cheryl Lee, MD, as chair, the Department is composed of six specialty Divisions with 28 faculty members. The Division of Urologic Oncology consists of 9 faculty members with active research programs across all disease sites/stages and has been identified by the OSUCCC for additional programmatic growth. Collectively, the Department performs over 22,000 clinic and operative procedures, annually. Clinical care, research, education, and community service are major priorities, and the Department is engaged in multicenter and multispecialty initiatives. Urology was ranked #28 in the 2025 US News and World Report Rankings. The Department sponsors fellowship programs in Endourology (Endourological Society) and Urologic Oncology (Society of Urologic Oncology) while Nationwide Children’s Hospital sponsors a fellowship in pediatric urology (Society for Pediatric Urology).
