VASCULAR NEUROLOGIST
VASCULAR NEUROLOGIST:
The Department of Neurology, Stroke Division, at the University of Maryland School of Medicine (UMSOM) is seeking a board-eligible or board-certified Vascular Neurologist (M.D. or M.D.-Ph.D.) to join our expanding team at the Assistant or Associate Professor level (non-tenure track). We welcome both clinician–educators and clinician–scientists with a strong interest in delivering outstanding stroke care within a nationally recognized academic medical center.
About Our Stroke Program
The University of Maryland Medical Center (UMMC) is a Joint Commission and State of Maryland–accredited Comprehensive Stroke Center and home to an ACGME-accredited Vascular Neurology Fellowship. Our program offers:
- A robust Brain Attack Team (BAT) with 24/7 acute stroke coverage
- A well-established regional telestroke network
- Strong interdisciplinary collaboration with Neurocritical Care, Neuro-interventional Radiology, Emergency Medicine, and Neurosurgery
- Active NIH and VA–funded research programs in acute stroke treatment, vascular biology, epidemiology, stroke genetics, and rehabilitation.
This is an excellent opportunity for candidates interested in combining clinical practice with teaching, research, or program development in a highly collaborative, academically rich environment.
Responsibilities
- Provide clinical care within our Comprehensive Stroke Center, including acute stroke call, inpatient stroke service, and outpatient vascular neurology clinics
- Participate in the teaching and mentorship of UMSOM medical students, Neurology residents, and Vascular Neurology fellows
- Engage in stroke quality initiatives, faculty committees, and departmental citizenship activities
- For clinician–scientist applicants, protected research time may be available depending on interests and funding
Qualifications
- M.D. or M.D.-Ph.D. degree
- BE/BC in Neurology and Vascular Neurology
- Eligibility for Maryland medical licensure
- Commitment to excellence in clinical care, education, and/or research
Salary & Compensation
Salary Range:
Assistant Professor — $218,861 to $280,000
The referenced range reflects base salary and does not include additional components of the Department of Neurology's compensation structure or variable pay programs. Actual compensation may vary based on factors such as qualifications, experience, internal equity, and market conditions.
