The Opportunity:
Reporting to the hospital director and working closely with the Small Animal Emergency and Critical Care Services (ECC) faculty service head, this position is responsible for supervising and coordinating full-time civil service and hourly employees including charge nurses in the SA Intensive Care Unit (ICU). Perform skilled veterinary technical duties in the management and recovery of post-operative and critical care patients. Communicate treatment protocols with 4th year veterinary students and assist in explaining specific techniques to students. Assist clinicians and students with incoming emergencies, assess and triage patients, and provide initial stabilization of patients. Order, inventory, and maintain supply of drugs and expendable items.

Additional Information:
This is a full time (100% FTE), permanent position. This position is overtime eligible.
Monthly Salary: $5,531 to $6,576 | Range 53 (Steps F-M) | Successful candidates are typically hired at the beginning of the salary range and receive scheduled salary increment increases in accordance with WAC 357-28.
In accordance with RCW 49.58.110, the above salary reflects the full salary range for this position. Individual placement within the range is based on the candidate's current experience, education, skills, and abilities related to the position.

Required Qualifications:
A Bachelor's degree in a medical, biological, or allied field, and two years of applicable experience; or graduation from a two-year veterinary technician program, and two years of working experience with animals, at least six months must include experience directing the work of others; OR equivalent education/experience.
Additional Qualifications:
- Must meet the required criteria (WAC 246-935-060) to be eligible to sit for the Washington State veterinary technician exam and must pass the exam the first time it is available.
- Must pass WSU radiation safety training exam first time it is available.
- Depending upon scheduling needs of the unit, evening, over-night and weekends shifts required.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Three years of experience working in Emergency and Critical Care Medicine.
- Continuing education in Emergency and Critical Care Medicine.
- VTS-ECC certification.
- Experience training and teaching students, interns and residents in specialty practice or academia.
- Experience supervising full-time staff
