Veterinary Technology Instructor (DVM)
Job Description
Dakota County Technical College seeks a temporary, part-time Veterinary Technology Instructor to serve as the Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) faculty for the Veterinary Technology Program. The instructor will demonstrate a commitment to teaching excellence and a desire to contribute to a creative, vibrant, student-centered learning community.
This temporary, part-time assignment includes teaching VET 2131: Veterinary Surgical Nursing & Dentistry during the 2026-2027 academic year. The teaching load is anticipated to be 9 credits per term in both the fall and spring semesters. The assignment start date is August 24, 2026. Instruction will be delivered in person at Dakota County Technical College, with scheduled class times on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
In addition to instructional responsibilities, faculty may be asked to support Animal Care Duty (ACD) shifts outside of scheduled teaching hours.
Responsibilities include:
- Teach Veterinary Technology curriculum, including lecture, laboratory, clinical, and hands-on instructional activities related to veterinary surgical nursing and dentistry.
- Provide instruction in areas such as surgical preparation, anesthesia monitoring, sterile technique, patient care, dental procedures, dental charting, instrumentation, radiography support, post-operative care, and related veterinary nursing competencies.
- Promote safety in all aspects of program activities.
- Support student learning through instructional planning, curriculum development, student evaluation, timely feedback, and maintenance of accurate student records.
- Work effectively as a member of the Veterinary Technology department.
- Maintain professional skills, credentials, and current knowledge of veterinary medical practice.
