Vice President for Academic Affairs
Key Role
- Provide strategic leadership, oversight, and operational management of the Academic Affairs division, ensuring alignment with GUST’s mission, vision, and strategic plan.
- Advance academic excellence, innovation, research impact, and societal engagement across all academic units.
Strategic Responsibilities
- Lead the design, execution, and continuous improvement of the University’s academic strategy to achieve the goals in GUST’s Strategic Plan.
- Ensure expansion of academic offerings (including new programs, colleges, and teaching modalities) in response to market needs and societal priorities.
- Drive faculty advancement initiatives, fostering excellence in teaching, research, and community engagement.
- Promote interdisciplinary research addressing national and regional priorities (e.g., economic sustainability, energy).
- Champion student-centered learning, ensuring high-quality academic and support services that promote holistic student development.
- Advance the University’s national and international accreditation, rankings, and reputation.
- Strengthen partnerships with industry, government, and global institutions to enhance academic and societal impact.
- Proven experience in the development and implementation of academic policies and procedures within a higher education setting.
- Promote innovation, inclusion, diversity, and a growth-oriented academic culture.
- Manage fiscal resources and budgetary processes within the University's academic units in alignment with the University's strategic priorities.
- Work effectively with members of the Board of Trustees and other leadership boards and committees that serve the University.
- Supervise all matters relating to curriculum and instruction in the University, including outreach, scheduling and overloads.
Operational Responsibilities
- Oversee curriculum development, review, and alignment with international standards and market needs.
- Manage academic budgets and resources efficiently, ensuring alignment with strategic priorities.
- Supervise recruitment, development, and performance evaluation of faculty and academic staff.
- Direct institutional research, learning assessment, and academic quality assurance processes.
- Coordinate production and dissemination of official academic publications (catalogs, schedules).
- Support the implementation of digital transformation strategies in academic operations.
- Represent GUST at official events, partnerships, and accreditation bodies.
Qualifications
Education
- PhD degree from an accredited University.
Experience
- Must have a minimum of 10 years' senior administrative experience in an American-style university, with demonstrated leadership in a current or prior role.
- Must attain a Full Professorship rank with a minimum of 5 years.
