The VP for Financial Affairs/Chief Fiscal Officer is responsible for the overall financial management and budgetary oversight for the University. Provides leadership and vision for the management of the University fiscal and administrative operations, including Controller, Accounting, Student Financial Services, Facilities, Purchasing, Security, and IT, as well as campus expansion and capital programs.

Qualifications:

Master’s Degree in finance, business, accounting or related discipline, CPA desired. Functional knowledge of integrated financial software solutions and management information systems; demonstrated capacity to successfully manage change; ability to think strategically; knowledge of local, state, and federal laws and regulations; knowledge of Title IV regulations and best practices as it relates to student financial aid packaging. Experience with tax-exempt financing, risk management, federal grant compliance and contract management desired. Has 7-10 years of progressive responsibility as a financial and administrative leader, preferably in higher education.

Responsibilities:

  • Serves as a member of President’s Cabinet.
  • Develops, manages and monitors the operating and capital budgets of the University.
  • Directly supervises the offices of Controller, Accounting, Facilities, Security, Purchasing, and Information Technology.
  • Works closely with various constituencies within and outside the University to improve all business and financial operations.
  • Safeguards the assets of the University by ensuring proper internal controls are in place and regularly monitored.
  • Generates plans for revenue enhancement and assists in resource development.
  • Manages Student Financial Services department. Develops packaging strategy and works closely with Admissions management to ensure best possible support to achieving enrollment goals at the best possible return on investment (ROI).
  • Assesses financial needs and develops short- and long-range financial plans and projections.
  • Provides and analyzes fiscal and administrative management information for review by the President and Board of Directors to assist in formulating fiscal policies and direction.
  • Oversees the preparation for all audits of the University as they relate to the direct reports of this position.
  • Secures financing as needed for campus development plans and capital improvements. Prepares plans for acquisition and allocation of resources.
  • Coordinates the monthly reconciliation of all major income and expense accounts of the University.
  • Monitors monthly expenditures versus annual budget projections.
  • Serves as lead member of the Budget Committee and prepares the annual University-wide budget.
  • Serves as the University’s liaison with the Fiscal Affairs, Investment Sub-Committee, Buildings and Grounds & Audit Committees of the Board of Trustees.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Salary Range: $165,000 - $175,000 (Will adjust depending on experience)
