North Hennepin Community College, one of the largest and most diverse two-year colleges in Minnesota, is accepting applications for the Vice President of Finance and Operations/CFFO, Minnesota State Administrator 9.

The Vice President of Finance and Operations serves as the Chief Finance and Facilities Officer (CFFO) of the college and provides vision, leadership, and strategic direction for college-wide budget development, budget monitoring, budget forecasting, fiscal affairs, physical plant, auxiliary enterprises (bookstore and food service), risk management, and safety/security programs. This position serves on the Executive Leadership team and reports directly to the college president. As a senior leader of the college and member of the Executive Leadership team, this position provides critical input to the president on key college issues and opportunities.

The successful Vice President will be defined by colleagues as a trusted advisor, whose empathy is demonstrated through inclusiveness and service to others. This person will be described as having integrity, humility, and an inviting demeanor that puts those around him/her at ease. Consistent with the college's mission, this leader will demonstrate a strong commitment to the value of diversity among students and staff, as well as sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds of NHCC students. The Vice President works together with colleagues to create a strong sense of fiscal accountability across campus, and to create an atmosphere of trust and respect in which all can succeed.

The Vice President must have the expertise and experience to lead the finance operations of a 2-year, student-centered college and possess the following qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or Business Administration or relevant field and five or more years of progressively complex administrative/managerial experience in a medium to large organization
  • Track record of success in financial analysis, planning, forecasting, and budgeting
  • Demonstrated high level of skills in leadership, management, supervisory, organizational, and human relations
  • Demonstrated genuine commitment to inclusiveness and shared governance in leadership and decision making
  • Knowledge of principals of continuous improvement and quality management
  • Demonstrated ability to work successfully with persons of diverse backgrounds and commitment to affirmative action in staffing and operations
  • Track record of effective and vigilant stewardship of college/organization resources
  • Demonstrated ability to identify and address issues and concerns in a diplomatic and sensitive manner
  • Demonstrated effective written and verbal communication skills
  • High degree of computer literacy, including proficiency and demonstrated ability to use technology to develop business process efficiencies

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree or higher in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or Business Administration or relevant field
  • Experience in higher education
  • Certified Public Accountant certification
  • Experience with implementation of an enterprise resource planning (ERP) system such as Workday
  • Thorough understanding of the collective bargaining process and skill in the administration of collective bargaining agreements
  • Demonstrated competence in interpreting and complying with federal and state legislation, state, system, and college policies
  • Demonstrated accuracy in forecasting financial positioning; ability to analyze, interpret, and effectively communicate statistical information to internal and external customers of the college
  • Experience with facilities master planning, capital budget requests, and building construction activities
  • Experience working with architects in the development of the predesigns and schematic designs for capital budget requests
  • Experience with and commitment to sustainability, energy efficiency, and environmental stewardship
  • Knowledge of environmental safety, security operations, and emergency response planning
  • Knowledge of the overall operations of educational institutions and/or government operations
  • Ability to develop and maintain strong community and business relationships

Salary:

Beginning Salary $116,314/annually - $185,771/annually depending on education and years of related experience. Salary range is non-negotiable per Administrators Plan.
