Job Overview

The Department of Chemistry invites applications for a full-time Visiting Assistant Professor position beginning August 15, 2026. This Visiting Assistant Professor position is for the 2026-2027 academic year only and is not eligible for the tenure track; however, this position could be extended into a second and final year if there is department need and available budget.

Essential Functions

  • Teach an average of 12 contact hours per semester of lecture and/or lab courses for majors and nonmajors. Teaching responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, teaching general chemistry courses for science majors, general, organic, and biochemistry (GOB) courses for allied health students, and general education chemistry courses for non-science majors. Courses may be assigned during the day or evening.
  • Participate in ongoing professional development in the discipline of chemistry, chemical education, and/or the scholarship of teaching and learning.
  • Participate in departmental service such as committee involvement or new course design.

Minimum Requirements

The following are required prior to the effective date of appointment:

  • Ph.D. in Chemistry or closely related field with 18 credit hours of graduate level coursework in chemistry.
  • One (1) academic year of college-level teaching experience (as the primary instructor) in chemistry or closely related field.

Compensation and Benefits

Salary Information: $51,000 - $54,000
