Position Overview
The Department of Spanish and Portuguese at the Ohio State University invites applications for a Visiting Assistant Professor appointment for an eight-week course in Summer 2026.
Performance Objectives
- Teach an eight-week course in Heritage Spanish Teaching Methodology in an online platform
Education and Experience Requirements
Required:
- The successful candidate must have a PhD in Spanish, Foreign and Second Language Teaching, or related discipline
- Native or near-native fluency in Spanish, and English and proficiency with Heritage Spanish
- Record of excellence in teaching Heritage Spanish
- Strong understanding of current best practices in second language pedagogy and superior language teaching skills; familiarity with ACTFL standards
Desired:
- Experience with outreach to Heritage Spanish-speakers in local high schools
- Familiarity with synchronous online tools for language teaching
- Candidates should demonstrate attentiveness to building an intellectual community in alignment with Ohio States shared values
