The Whitman College Environmental Studies Program invites applicants for a one-year Visiting Assistant Professor position, beginning August 2026. The successful candidate would teach two sections of a mixed data and methods course for the major and additional electives in areas of their expertise, for a total course load of five classes per year.

The successful candidate will possess the ability to teach introductory-level GIS, statistics, and a mix of qualitative and quantitative methods within one course. We are looking for a broadly trained candidate who can also offer interdisciplinary courses for the major. Candidates should have familiarity or experience with the interdisciplinary field of environmental studies. Preference will be given to those with Ph.D's in the fields of environmental studies, geography, or other natural or social science. Candidates holding MA degrees in those disciplines who also possess college-level teaching experience are welcome to apply.

Salary Range: $65,000-$70,000
