Visiting Lecturer - English

Position Details

This full-time faculty position is on-campus and in-person.

The English Department of Texas Christian University invites applicants for full-time Visiting Lecturer positions for on-campus, in-person teaching. This is one-year, full-time, non-renewable position beginning in August 2025. The teaching load is 4 courses per semester, primarily in composition, but also possibly in literature, creative writing, or any combination of the three. We invite applicants to demonstrate in their application materials how they might contribute to the department's core mission of providing a socially just literacy education.

A successful applicant will have at minimum a PhD in Composition and Rhetoric, English, or Creative Writing or a related field or an MFA in Creative Writing or will have completed all requirements for the PhD except the final defense from a regionally accredited institution at the start of employment. Teaching experience in one or more of the indicated fields is required; applicants are also requested to demonstrate commitment to and excellence in undergraduate instruction.

Department Details

Students and faculty in the Department of English at TCU are committed to a variety of intellectual and creative pursuits fostered by the exploration of literature, rhetoric and writing. The department includes a cohort of rhetoric and composition faculty, and both tenure-stream and non-tenure-stream faculty who work together to schedule courses, organize curriculum, and serve on various committees.
