Visiting Lecturer of US History
The Division of Humanities at Maryville College, a selective four-year liberal arts college committed to superior teaching, invites applications for a two-year, full-time Visiting Lecturer of US History position beginning in August 2026. Qualified candidates will have a commitment to excellence in teaching and be a champion for the liberal arts model of undergraduate education. An MA or PhD in History or related field is required; ABD in the final stages of completion will also be considered. Previous teaching experience is preferred.
Teaching responsibilities include courses in the History major (American History survey and upper-level topical courses in American history), as well as contributions to the Maryville College Core Curriculum. Scholars of American Religious History are especially encouraged to apply.
The candidate will also assume responsibility for supervising undergraduate senior theses. Applicants should demonstrate a commitment to excellence in undergraduate teaching, evidence of on-going professional development, and a readiness to engage in the life of the college. Interdisciplinary approaches are welcome.
