Visiting Professor, Political Science, non-tenure track
The Department of Political Science at Ohio University invites applications for a Visiting Professor (non-tenure-track) position in the field of American Politics, Public Policy, or Public Administration to start in Fall 2026 on a 9-month contract (August 16, 2026 to May 15, 2027). The successful candidate will provide teaching support to the department, centered on offering courses containing the standard state curriculum for American civic literacy, and will teach multiple sections of the introductory subfield course, American Politics, Policy, and Administration, as well as an upper-level course in their area of specialization. Candidates should demonstrate their facility to teach from the mandated list of foundational and historical U.S. documents found in Ohio Revised Code Section 3345.382.
We seek candidates who share the department's commitment to teaching excellence and who have demonstrated teaching experience. Experience designing and offering online courses is an asset, but the primary teaching responsibilities for this position will require in-person instruction on our Athens, OH campus. The expected teaching load for this position is 3-3.
Minimum Qualifications:
At a minimum, the successful candidate must be at ABD stage (with an anticipated completion date no later than December 31, 2026) in Political Science or a closely related field at the time of appointment and have demonstrated teaching experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
PhD in Political Science or a closely related field at the time of appointment. Experience with innovative teaching pedagogy and/or online instruction is an asset.
