Visiting Researcher
Position Summary:
Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Visiting Researcher for the department of Neuroscience & Cell Biology at the Robert Wood Johnson Medical School.
The Pan Laboratory in the Department of Neuroscience and Cell Biology, at Rutgers University – Robert Wood Johnson Medical School, is seeking a Visiting Researcher. This position will focus on research studies of dopaminergic signaling in the mouse brain. Performs work requiring application of standard techniques and procedures relative to Parkinson's disease research.
Among the key duties of this position are the following:
- As directed, performs various research and technical operations relative to the ongoing investigatory activities of the laboratory specific to in vivo mouse work. Keep detailed records of procedures and experiments.
- Mouse colony management (this includes designing breeding schemes and genotyping several transgenic lines).
- As instructed, performs intracranial stereotaxic injection of viral vectors followed by locomotor behavioral analysis (this includes troubleshooting and validation of methodology).
- Collaborate with postdocs and students in the lab to perform intracardial perfusion, cryosection and immunohistology analysis.
- Assists with training fellows, medical students and undergraduate researchers in laboratory techniques as directed.
Minimum Education and Experience:
- Qualified candidate will have a master or equivalent degree in biomedical sciences or related disciplines.
- Must have a background in vivo mouse work (stereotaxic injection, behavioral analysis, perfusion and immunohistology).
Physical Demands and Work Environment:
- Physical Demands: Standing, sitting, walking, talking or hearing. No special vision requirements.
- Work Environment: Lab environment; moderate noise. Vivarium – potential allergens present.
