W3 Professorship for Physical Chemistry

The Clausius Institute for Physical and Theoretical Chemistry of the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences of University of Bonn invites applications for a
W3 Professorship for Physical Chemistry
to be filled at the earliest possible date.
We are seeking to appoint an internationally highly visible researcher engaged in the field of Physical Chemistry of Molecular Systems with a focus on Experimental Method Development. The scientific activities of the successful applicant should complement in a synergistic manner the existing activities of the Chemistry Department and may involve research on small molecules/radicals/ions and/or their clusters, materials, or biomolecular systems. The research program should connect to the wider Bonn science landscape and should facilitate close collaborations within the Department and the university’s Transdisciplinary Research Areas (TRA). Creative and visionary contributions to existing and planned integrated research networks are expected. The applicant has an excellent publication record commensurate with their career stage and a proven ability to attract substantial third party funding.
The teaching responsibilities include representing the full breadth of Physical Chemistry. Teaching pursuant to the Lehrverpflichtungsverordnung NRW (Ordinance on Teaching Duties) is an integral part of the professorship. Therefore, the successful candidate has extensive teaching experience and is expected to deliver high-quality education across all levels of academic qualifications (BSc, MSc and PhD) in both German and English. An appropriate training and support period can be granted for the acquisition of necessary language skills. Active participation in academic self-administration is expected and leadership skills can be advantageous.
The formal recruitment requirements are based on section 36 of the Higher Education Act of North Rhine-Westphalia (Hochschulgesetz NRW).
