Job Summary
This position performs a variety of duties in support of the college's web-based applications. This position will work closely with Information Technology to develop effective web content in support of the educational mission of the college.
Responsibilities
- Is responsible for understanding, supporting, and carrying out the college's mission, vision, and values and for complying with mandates and regulations of government and accrediting bodies.
- Collaborates with stakeholders to design, create, and implement websites and web-based applications that deliver consistent and appropriate content in support of the marketing strategies of the college
- Develops and supports relational databases, custom web applications, and related scripts
- Adds, updates, and removes content on college websites
- Develops performant, responsive page layouts
- Provides consultation, training, and technical support to faculty and staff on web development, content management, and publishing best practices.
- Designs and implements web graphics, visual elements, and user interfaces that align with institutional branding and user experience standards.
- Ensures websites, applications, and digital content comply with Section 508 / WCAG 2.1 web accessibility requirements.
- Implements and manages search engine optimization (SEO), web analytics, and related tools to support institutional goals and measure digital engagement.

Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, web development, information technology, or a related field AND two years of relevant front- and back-end website development experience including the following concepts, programming languages, and software packages: Linux server operating systems, Apache, MySQL, MariaDB, SQL, HTML, HTML5, CSS, PHP, JavaScript, AJAX, Section 508/WCAG 2.1 web accessibility, and Adobe Photoshop/Illustrator
- An equivalent combination of directly related education, professional certifications, and progressively responsible work experience will be considered.
- Must have relevant front- and back-end experience with an open-source content management system
- Strong background in website design and development
- Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and organized

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
- Knowledge of web application architecture, relational database systems, content management systems, and modern web development principles.
- Knowledge of Linux server environments, web hosting infrastructure, and application deployment processes.
- Experience developing, maintaining, and administering WordPress, including theme customization, plugin integration, content architecture, and search engine optimization (SEO).
- Proficiency with web technologies and development tools, including HTML, CSS, JavaScript, PHP, SQL, responsive design frameworks, APIs, and source control practices.
- Experience developing and supporting web applications using modern frameworks and development methodologies.
- Knowledge of user experience (UX), user interface (UI), information architecture, and visual design principles for websites and web applications.
- Ability to develop and evaluate digital content and web applications for compliance with Section 508 and WCAG accessibility standards.
- Proficiency with graphic design and digital media tools used in web design and content creation.
- Knowledge of cross-browser, cross-platform, and responsive web development practices.
- Knowledge of web application security principles and industry best practices, including authentication and authorization, secure coding techniques, input validation, data protection, vulnerability management, and the OWASP Top 10 security risks.
- Ability to analyze business requirements and develop technical solutions that meet organizational needs and objectives.
- Skill in website administration, content governance, and web quality assurance.
- Strong project management, organizational, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
- Strong interpersonal, collaboration, customer service, and consultation skills with the ability to work effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Excellent oral, written, and presentation communication skills.
