The Department of Obstetrics, Gynecology, and Reproductive Sciences at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF) is recruiting a Physician Scientist Scholar for our UCSF Women's Reproductive Health Research (WRHR) K12 Career Development Program. This position is for an obstetrician-gynecologist committed to becoming an independent clinical, translational, and/or basic science researcher in women's reproductive health. It includes 2- to 5-years of intensive mentored research combined with patient care. Click here to see potential focus areas and mentors. Successful candidates will have experience formulating and conducting research studies, publishing manuscripts, and in some cases, applying for funding with a focus on women's reproductive health. Appointed WRHR Scholars will be expected to formulate and conduct research studies, publish manuscripts, and apply for independent funding that is focused on women's reproductive health.
Required Qualifications:
Applicants must be planning an academic career and:
- Be a physician holding a M.D. or D.O. degree
- Have completed or be in the final year of postgraduate residency training in obstetrics-gynecology
- Have completed or be in the final year of postdoctoral fellowship training in obstetrics and gynecology, if the candidate has chosen to subspecialize, or in the final year of advanced training in clinical research
- Identify mentors with extensive research experience
- If selected, be able to devote at least 75% effort to conducting research and research career development
- Not be or have been a PD/PI on an R01 or R29; on a subproject of a Program Project (P01) or Center (P50, P60, U54) grant; on an independent mentored career development (K-series) grant; or PD/PI on other such awards
The posted UC salary scales set the minimum pay determined by rank and step at appointment. See Table 5. The minimum base salary range for this position is $131,200-$204,100. This position includes membership in the health sciences compensation plan, which provides for eligibility for additional compensation. UCSF Department of Obstetrics, Gynecology & Reproductive Sciences has a total salary plan that uses National benchmarking standards to set salaries by subspecialty.
