Job Description

Duties and Responsibilities

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The Workforce Development Coordinator – Health Careers is responsible for the overall planning and implementation of continuing education healthcare training programs within the Continuing Education department. This position supports student enrollment, externship coordination, credential tracking, and ensures programs meet regulatory and institutional requirements.

Characteristic Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Research, coordinate, evaluate, and implement workforce education courses and programs aligned with regional healthcare industry needs and licensure/certification requirements.
  2. Establish and maintain partnerships with healthcare employers, clinical sites, and regulatory bodies to support student training and placement.
  3. Manage formal agreements with clinical partners and credentialing agencies.
  4. Develop, revise, and schedule Continuing Education Health program courses on a quarterly basis.
  5. Work closely with instructors to ensure syllabi, course objectives, and instructional materials meet program standards and outcomes.
  6. Ensure all course documentation—including registration, attendance, credentialing, and compliance paperwork—is submitted accurately and timely.
  7. Serve as a liaison between the College and the healthcare industry to identify training needs and support job placement.
  8. Participate in recruitment events such as program orientations, community outreach events, health fairs, and workforce summits.
  9. Assist in the recruitment and onboarding of Continuing Education faculty for health programs.
  10. Facilitate coordination of clinical rotations, externships, and hands-on training with healthcare facilities.
  11. Represent the College at local, regional, or state conferences and workforce development meetings.
  12. Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Continuing Education, Dean of Community Education, Provost/VP of Academic Affairs, Associate Provost/Strategic & Collaborative Partnerships, or President.

Qualifications/Certifications/Licenses/Skills

Required:

  • Bachelors Degree from an accredited institution
  • 3 years of experience in healthcare, continuing education, workforce training, or instructional support
  • Valid Texas Drivers License

Preferred:

  • In a field such as a Biology, Health Sciences, Education, or Social and Behavioral Sciences
  • Experience in allied health, adult learning environments, or higher education settings with knowledge of adult learning or administration.
  • Medical certification (e.g., CMA, PCT, Phlebotomy Tech, etc)

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Experienced in the use of personal computer and various software programs such as Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Adobe Acrobat.
  • Must have effective organizational, planning, written, and oral communication in English and Spanish and must possess interpersonal skills.
  • Must be able to exhibit analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to follow through on details and develop creative solutions.
  • The ability to multi-task in a dynamic environment is preferred.

Physical Requirements

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit. The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, or crouch. Work Environment

Work is performed in a standard office environment. Work inside a well-lighted and air-conditioned area most of the time. The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet to moderate.

Special Conditions

Immediate supervisor may assign other duties. May be required to work outside regular working hours, as needed. May be required to work at a different college work site or campus as needed.
