Are you passionate about helping others achieve their full potential? We’re looking for a dynamic Careers Adviser to provide expert guidance and support to prospective students, current students, and UniSC graduates. In this role, you’ll play a key part in shaping positive educational journeys, fostering lifelong learning, and enhancing employability skills.
As a Careers Adviser, you’ll offer personalised career development support through one-on-one appointments, engaging workshops, and the creation of valuable resources. You will
- apply professional expertise to advise students in 1 to 1 appointments, to enable informed decision-making for program and course selection, skills development, and positive career and employment outcomes;
- provide professional expertise to develop and deliver events, workshops and resources to facilitate positive educational, developmental, careers and employability outcomes for prospective, current and graduated students;
- facilitate stakeholder engagement, including with external organisations to foster both academic and industry partnerships that enhance students’ and graduates’ career opportunities;
- collaborate with student groups, clubs and societies to provide a rich, diverse array of professional development opportunities to enhance employability; and
- contribute to a positive and safe work environment for you and others, by modelling and promoting conduct that is culturally capable, inclusive, respectful, and ethical.
About you
You have exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, coupled with a deep understanding of the higher education system and the unique career development needs of diverse student groups. Your expertise in labour market trends allows you to effectively guide career planning and learning initiatives. Additionally, your proven experience in collaborating with external stakeholders and organising events makes you highly capable of contributing to or leading careers and industry events.
You will possess:
- education, training and/or relevant experience equivalent to the completion of a degree with experience providing career guidance within a higher education environment;
- demonstrated application of Career Development Learning principles in alignment with the competencies outlined in the Professional Standards for Australian Career Development Practitioners in providing one to one advice and guidance, developing engaging resources and workshops;
- an ability to collaborate across multi-disciplinary teams (for example Student Wellbeing, AccessAbility and Student Success services) using a case managed approach to support individuals; and
- currently possess or working towards a CICA approved qualification in Career Development, or eligibility for membership with professional associations (e.g. NAGCAS or CDAA).
