About Adrian

Adrian McDonald is a Professor in the School of Physical & Chemical Sciences at the University of Canterbury in the Faculty of Science. He holds a BSc (Hons) in physics and a PhD in atmospheric physics from the University of Wales Aberystwyth. McDonald joined the University of Canterbury in 2001 and has held positions including Associate Head of the School of Physical & Chemical Sciences and Director of Gateway Antarctica.

His research focuses on understanding processes relevant to the climate system, making fundamental atmospheric measurements using satellite, ground-based and aircraft instruments, with emphasis on Antarctica and the Southern Ocean. McDonald serves as an executive member of the New Zealand Climate Change Centre.
