Dr. Allison Robinson, PT, DPT, is an Assistant Professor of Physical Therapy in the College of Health Professions at Hardin-Simmons University, where she has served since August 2023. She earned a Bachelor of Science in Exercise and Sport Sciences from Lubbock Christian University in 2014 and a Doctor of Physical Therapy from Texas Tech University’s School of Allied Health Sciences in 2017. Licensed as a Physical Therapist by the Texas State Board of Physical Therapy Examiners since 2017, Dr. Robinson holds Board Certification as a Clinical Specialist in Neurologic Physical Therapy since July 2021, along with Neuro-IFRAH certification and National Child Passenger Safety Certification as a Car Seat Technician with Special Needs Certification. Her clinical career includes positions as a staff physical therapist at Trustpoint Rehabilitation Hospital of Lubbock from August 2017 to July 2023, Theracare in Lubbock from March to July 2023, and currently at Hendrick Center for Rehabilitation in Abilene since August 2023. Previously, she served as Assistant Women’s Soccer Coach at Lubbock Christian University from July 2019 to May 2021 and as a clinical instructor for Hardin-Simmons University DPT students in 2019, 2020, and 2022.
In the entry-level Doctor of Physical Therapy program, Dr. Robinson teaches as primary instructor for PHYT 7307A Neuroscience I, PHYT 7208A Neuroscience II, PHYT 7326A Clinical Neurological I, and PHYT 7427A Clinical Neurological II. Her research interests encompass perceptions of artificial intelligence by physical therapists and physical therapist assistants in the United States and the impact of respite camps on inclusion and resilience in families affected by disability. She contributes professionally as editor of the Texas Physical Therapy Association Midwest District Newsletter since 2023, chair of the Hardin-Simmons University Athletic Committee since August 2024, and chair of the Search Committee since August 2023. Dr. Robinson is a member of the American Physical Therapy Association, Texas Physical Therapy Association, and Academy of Neurologic Physical Therapy. Her community involvement includes Joni and Friends Family Camp in June 2024, Western Heritage Day, Habitat for Humanity, car seat checkups, scoliosis screens, balance screens, and health fairs.
