Annick De Boeck is an associate professor at KU Leuven's Faculty of Law and Criminology, serving as campus dean of the Brussels Campus and chair of the education commission for the Bachelor of Laws program. She is a member of the Institute for the Law of Obligations. De Boeck obtained her PhD from the University of Antwerp on June 6, 2000, with a dissertation titled 'Informatierechten en -plichten in de overeenkomsten,' which was published as a book in 2000. Her academic career includes prior roles such as associate professor at Hogeschool-Universiteit Brussel. At KU Leuven, she teaches courses on Introduction to Law, Law of Obligations, Property and Special Contracts Law, Law of Obligations tutorials, and Comparative Law on the Brussels Campus.
De Boeck's research specializes in contract law, with a focus on precontractual liability, anticipatory breach, information duties, contract formation, non-conforming delivery, property rights limitations, and remedies under the new Belgian Civil Code Book 5. She currently leads research projects including 'Writing book on Precontractual liability' (2025), 'Anticipatory breach: towards a more proactive contract law' (2024-2028), and 'Shared housing under joint tenancy: Comparative legal lessons for Flanders' (2018-2025). As promotor or co-promotor, she has supervised PhD theses such as Erika Verscheure's 'Woningdelen in medehuur' (2025) and Tom Hick's 'A European Structure for No-Contract Law in the 21st Century' (2024). Key publications include 'Precontractuele aansprakelijkheid' (Tijdschrift voor contractenrecht, 2025), 'Anticipatief opschorten en ontbinden' in Sancties in de boeken 5 en 6 van het Burgerlijk Wetboek (die Keure, 2025), 'Het eigendomsrecht en clausules van onvervreemdbaarheid' in Beperking van eigendomsrechten (die Keure, 2025), 'Op eigen risico én anticipatief opschorten en ontbinden' (Tijdschrift voor Privaatrecht, 2024), and 'Niet-conforme levering en informatieplichten' (Tijdschrift voor Belgisch Burgerlijk Recht, 2024). Her scholarship provides critical commentary on jurisprudence and legislative changes in obligations law.
