Dr Azka Ghafoor is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Management, Otago Business School, at the University of Otago, where she joined the faculty in 2021. Prior to this appointment, she taught and coordinated courses at Auckland University of Technology (AUT), served as a diploma coordinator at AUT, worked as a researcher on the National Science Challenge (Science for Technological Innovation), and held positions in business development and training at international firms. Ghafoor earned her PhD, for which she was awarded the Vice-Chancellor’s Scholarship, combining academic expertise with practical industry experience to inform her teaching and research.
Azka Ghafoor's research interests include human-AI interaction, creativity and innovation from behavioural, contextual, and organisational perspectives, organisational stressors, work demands and strain, and workplace well-being. She explores the intersection of human-AI ecosystems, workplace dynamics, and organisational behaviour, particularly how AI-driven environments influence human behaviour, creativity, and interactions, utilising mixed-methods and quantitative approaches. Ghafoor teaches in areas of entrepreneurship and strategy, human resource development, and organisational behaviour, including courses MANT 250 Managing People, MANT 303 Fundamentals in Entrepreneurship, and MANT 339 Human Resource Development. She supervises master's and doctoral students on organisational behaviour and well-being topics, encouraging interdisciplinary collaborations for impactful research.
