Rate My Professor Ben Kennedy

Professor Ben Kennedy is a Professor in Volcanology and Geoscience Education in the School of Earth and Environment at the University of Canterbury. He holds a BSc (Hons) in Geology, an MSc, and a PhD from McGill University in Canada. His research addresses two primary questions: why volcanoes erupt and how to most effectively teach about planet Earth. Professor Kennedy has received the 2023 Prime Minister’s Science Communication Prize and the 2016 University of Canterbury Teaching Excellence Award. He contributes to geoscience education research and science communication initiatives at the university.
