About Bouke

Prof. Dr. Bouke de Vries is an associate professor in ethics and political philosophy at Ghent University in the Faculty of Arts and Philosophy, Department of Philosophy and Moral Sciences. He holds a PhD in Political Science with a specialization in Political Theory from the European University Institute in Italy, where his thesis was titled “A Theory of Liberal Neutrality and Toleration.” His academic background also includes degrees such as LLM, MRes, MPhil, and MA. De Vries’s research focuses on social and political philosophy, moral philosophy, legal theory, bioethics, and medical ethics. His current research project examines the ethics of loneliness and sociability.

De Vries has contributed to the academic field through numerous publications and maintains an active presence in philosophical research at Ghent University. He is affiliated with the Ghent Research in Ethics, Law and Politics group.
