Dr. Brittany Auernig-Roan is Assistant Dean and Assistant Professor of Practice in Teacher Education at Benerd College, University of the Pacific. She holds a Doctorate of Special Education from Northcentral University, completed in 2020. Dr. Auernig-Roan possesses over ten years of direct professional experience working as a special education teacher, professor, and non-public school administrator. Her primary academic specialty centers on students with disabilities and strategies to support them within inclusive educational environments. In her current roles, she contributes to teacher preparation programs, including the MA in Education with Teacher Credentials and clinical supervision for teacher education.
As Faculty Co-Lead for the University of the Pacific's Teacher Summer Program, Dr. Auernig-Roan facilitates learning opportunities for participants from university faculty and experts. She delivered a conference presentation titled "Inclusive Practices for Students with Emotional and Behavioral Disorders" at the 2020 California Student Mental Wellness Conference on September 9, 2020. The session provided educators with knowledge and practical tools to identify mental health concerns, intervene appropriately, implement behavioral management, and appreciate their role in students' lives within inclusive settings. Dr. Auernig-Roan advised the Summer Undergraduate Research Fellowship project "The Impact of Autonomous-Based Programs on Socio-Emotional, Cognitive, and Behavioural Development in School-age Children," conducted by Maja Cvijanovic in the Department of Teacher Education, Special Education, awarded in Summer 2025. She has served as second committee member on multiple Doctor of Education dissertations, including "An Evaluation of the Conditions Impacting Teacher Attrition in California Public Schools" by Colin M. McInnis (2025), "The Effects of GoNoodle Engagement on Mathematics Skills of Students with Specific Learning Disabilities" by Christina D. Barrett (2023), and "Filipina American Mothers' Experiences Obtaining Services for their Preschool Children with Disabilities" by Nina Chelle Boling (2024). Her contributions extend to partnerships, such as collaborations featured in the TED 2025 Conference Proceedings on educational matches between university programs and school districts. Dr. Auernig-Roan supports return-to-active-status processes for education students and job postings for visiting instructors and clinical supervisors in teacher education.
