Miss Carly Jones is a Lecturer in Midwifery at Adelaide University’s School of Nursing and Midwifery in the College of Health. She possesses a Bachelor of Midwifery (BMid) and a Master of Clinical Education (MClinEd), specializing in telehealth education within simulation-based learning environments. With substantial hands-on experience from working across multiple tertiary hospitals in Australia, Carly excels in converting theoretical concepts into practical, valuable clinical training for students. She is deeply committed to accessible and equitable women’s healthcare, expertly combining her clinical background with her passion for mentoring the next generation of midwives.
Carly’s academic interests center on developing simulation-based learning curricula and readying future midwives for building effective rapport in telehealth scenarios. A notable publication is her co-authored paper, “The future of healthcare—simulation-based learning curricula and preparing future midwives for effective rapport-building in telehealth settings,” published in the Journal of Advanced Nursing in 2025 alongside Nayia Cominos. She has also played a key role in producing several reports for SA Health, including “Sexual abuse in childhood: pregnancy, birth and postnatal care considerations” (2025, with Angela Brown, Victoria Sutton, and Rachel Hill), “Cord presentation and prolapse” (2025, with Angela Brown and Victoria Sutton), “Shoulder dystocia” (2024, with Angela Brown, Maria Aldred, and Kate Daw), and “South Australian Perinatal Practice Guideline Uterine Inversion” (2023, with Angela Brown, Maria Aldred, Victoria Sutton, Kate Daw, Kate OsBorn, and Michael McEvoy).
In education, she teaches courses such as NURS 3057 Women’s Health Across the Lifespan, NURS 3053 Experiential Learning Activity: Midwifery Transition Practicum 5, SCCHS 90011 Clinical Refresher for Midwives SC, and SCNRC 90015 IBMW Compulsory Module 1 SC. Her efforts significantly impact midwifery training and clinical guidelines, advancing standards in perinatal care and student preparation for contemporary practice.
