Dr Carmel Taddeo is a Senior Lecturer in Research Methods and Postgraduate Supervision at UniSA Education Futures, Adelaide University. She earned her Doctor of Philosophy, Master of Education, and Bachelor of Education from the University of South Australia. Possessing over three decades of experience in primary and tertiary education, including as a classroom teacher, specialist teacher, and university lecturer, Dr Taddeo specializes in mixed-methods research encompassing online surveys, quantitative analysis using SPSS, SMARTPLS, and AMOS, and qualitative approaches incorporating youth voice.
Her academic interests include change theories, ethical technology use for positive learning outcomes, youth health and wellbeing, cyberbullying, cybersafety, social connectedness, website evaluation, leadership processes, and program analytics. Key projects she has contributed to include the ARC-funded Behaviour at School Study, Professionals Protecting Children initiative with the Australian Centre for Child Protection, Safe and Well Online project under the Young and Well CRC, and evaluation of the Safe Schools Hub. Dr Taddeo is a full member of the Centre for Research in Educational and Social Inclusion, affiliate member of the Centre for Change and Complexity in Learning, and research advisor to the Global Centre for Work Applied Learning. She has secured research funding from government agencies and provided expertise to organizations such as ReachOut, Sammy D Foundation, Raising Children Network, and the National Technology Wellbeing Roundtable. Awards include 2016 finalist in the Australian Effie Awards for Appreciate a Mate, best paper in technology strand at the Australasian Ethics Network Conference, Outstanding Achievement in International Engagement from UniSA's Australian/Indian Research Collaboration, and Best Collaborative/Multi-disciplinary Project for Professionals Protecting Children.
