Carrie Dameron is an Associate Professor in the Registered Nursing Department at Ohlone College, serving as Director of the Registered Nursing Program. She has been a full-time nursing instructor in Medical/Surgical Nursing since 2002, teaching courses in Medical/Surgical Nursing and Gerontology. Dameron holds credentials including MSN, RNBC, and CNE, with certifications as a Certified Nurse Educator from the National League for Nursing and ANA Certification in Medical/Surgical Nursing. A Registered Nurse since 1992, she previously worked in medical/surgical/telemetry units and spent five years in home health hospice. Within the department, she serves as Assistant Director, Geriatric Content Expert, and Curriculum Chair. She is actively engaged in college governance as a current member of the Curriculum Committee and past Faculty Senate Representative for the Business and Health Sciences Division (term 2024-2026), as well as previous roles on Student Learning Outcome Assessment, College Council, and Curriculum Committee.
Dameron contributes to community health by facilitating the Ohlone Blood Pressure Clinic for older adults at the Newark Senior Center. Her academic interests center on spiritual care in nursing. She collaborated with Dr. Tove Giske from Norway, Dr. Amy Rex Smith from the USA, and contributors from Singapore and Colombia to develop the 'Art & Science of Spiritual Care' train-the-trainer manual and presentation. This program equips international Christian nurses to address spiritual care needs across diverse patient backgrounds and has been delivered by her in Manila and Tagaytay, Philippines; Santiago, Chile; and Taipei, Taiwan. Sponsored by Nurses Christian Fellowship International, her work includes authoring the bimonthly devotion series 'NCFI Cares.' Notable publications encompass the devotional book 'CARES: Reflections for Nurses' (2016) and articles in the Journal of Christian Nursing such as 'Fostering Future Nurses' (2013), 'Intercessory Prayer: Differentiating the Source' (2018), and 'The Paramount Priority of Prayer.' Her efforts underscore a commitment to integrating spiritual dimensions into nursing education and practice.
