Chris Kandunias is a Senior Lecturer in Accounting at the School of Accounting and Finance, College of Business and Law, Adelaide University. He joined the University of South Australia in 1998, continuing his career following the merger into Adelaide University. Kandunias brings extensive experience in various areas of accounting, with a specialization in delivering auditing education across all teaching modes. As coordinator for the undergraduate auditing courses offered by the university, he has also been involved with Open Universities Australia since 2002. His teaching strengths lie in explaining complex content effectively to students. He delivers courses including ACCT 3005 Auditing Theory and Practice in 2024 and 2025, ACCT 1008 Accounting for Business in 2024, and contributes to the Bachelor of Commerce program. Through his long-standing commitment to accounting education, Kandunias supports students in developing practical skills and understanding of auditing principles and practices within contemporary business environments.
Currently completing a PhD, Kandunias investigates the financial viability of Australian Rules Football Clubs in the Australian Football League, highlighting the need to consider non-financial information beyond traditional financial metrics when assessing an AFL club's ongoing operational sustainability, especially under business constraints and the influence of COVID-19 on the Australian business landscape. His research specializations include sports financial management with a focus on AFL clubs' financial performance, identification of social intangibles and their effects on stakeholder decision-making in major sporting organizations, as well as education and the role of social media. He has published across accounting education, supply chain management, and franchising. Key works are 'Harnessing Facebook for student engagement in accounting education: guiding principles for accounting students and educators' by Stone, G., Fiedler, B., and Kandunias, C. (2014, Accounting Education: An International Journal, 23(4), 295-321), and 'Implications of supply chain management for accounting information systems' by Heng, S. H., Fiedler, B. A., and Kandunias, C. (2005, Proceedings of the Pacific Asia Conference on Information Systems, pp. 1037-1045).
