Christina Severin earned a Master of Public Health with a concentration in Health Services from Boston University School of Public Health in 1995 and a Bachelor of Arts in Political Economy from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst. Her career in health care began as an administrative assistant in the Department of Adolescent Medicine at Boston Medical Center, where she advanced through roles such as Director of Community Health Center Services at Boston City Hospital, Practice Manager at Codman Square Health Center, and Director of Managed Care for Health Services Partnership. At Network Health, a nonprofit Massachusetts health plan and subsidiary of Tufts Health Plan, Severin served for 13 years, progressing to Vice President and Chief Operating Officer, Director of Quality, and ultimately President, overseeing growth, strategic direction, and financial management. She subsequently led Beth Israel Deaconess Care Organization as President and Chief Executive Officer and, since 2016, has served as President and CEO of Community Care Cooperative (C3), a nonprofit Medicaid Accountable Care Organization governed by Federally Qualified Health Centers, serving approximately 230,000 MassHealth members with $1.4 billion in total cost of care risk.
Severin has taught classes in health care administration and management at Boston University, Harvard University, and Northeastern University, contributing her expertise in managed care, delivery systems, health insurance, Accountable Care Organizations, quality, public policy, and public health within the field of Health Science. Her leadership has been recognized with the 2013 Distinguished Alumni Award from Boston University School of Public Health. Additional honors include selection by the Boston Globe as a Top 100 Women-Led Business in 2015, Boston Business Journal '40 Under 40' honoree, feature in its 'Women Up' series, and inclusion on its list of top health care executives changing roles in 2013. In April 2023, she was elected to the FAIR Health Board of Directors.
