Daniel Wearing is an Associate Lecturer in Games Art and Design in the School of Media and Communication at Murdoch University, part of the College of Law, Arts and Social Sciences. A graduate of Murdoch University, he returned to his alma mater after establishing a robust career in the games industry. Wearing entered the professional field while still a student, beginning with Disney Interactive. He has accumulated over ten years of experience as a concept artist and game developer. His career spans small indie studios, larger mobile companies, and the AAA industry in games and animation. Specific experiences include work with Universal Studios, GNT Japan/Vn, Motion Logic, Storm Bunny Studios, and more, as he describes: “I’ve been working as a concept artist and developing games for over ten years, entering the industry while a student here at Murdoch University, working for Disney Interactive. My industry experience ranges from working with small indie studios, larger mobile companies and the AAA industry in the Games and Animation fields, including but not limited to Universal Studios, GNT Japan/Vn, Motion Logic, Storm Bunny Studios and more.”
In his academic role, Wearing contributes to the industry-focused Games Art and Design program. He has stated, “Murdoch prepared me for industry work. Now as an educator I have the opportunity to continue the Games Art program's commitment to relevant, industry-focused teaching.” Wearing has also participated in academic presentations, co-authoring the conference paper “Teaching Peer Feedback in the Creative Industries: Reflections from...” with Tom Schofield. He is further involved in upcoming scholarly events, including a presentation at the AANZCA25 conference with Tauel Harper and Lauren O'Mahony.
