Eric Crosbie, Ph.D., M.A., is an Associate Professor and Graduate Director of Social and Behavioral Health and Health Administration and Policy in the School of Public Health at the University of Nevada, Reno. In the field of Health Science, he is a political scientist who examines commercial determinants of health and public health policy. His research centers on non-communicable diseases and investigates how commercial industries such as tobacco, food and beverage, alcohol, pharmaceutical, and fossil fuel contribute to the NCD epidemic and shape public health regulations. Crosbie conducts local research on smoke-free environments and sugar-sweetened beverage taxation regulations in the U.S., alongside global analyses of tobacco and nutrition packaging and labeling policies and the impact of trade on health. He holds a Ph.D. in Politics and Public Health from the University of California, Santa Cruz (2016), an M.A. in International Relations from San Francisco State University (2010), and a B.A. in History from San Francisco State University (2007).
Crosbie collaborates with health organizations and advocates locally and internationally to educate policymakers through academic research dissemination, including publications in Spanish to reach wider audiences. He mentors undergraduate and graduate students, supporting their efforts to publish and present research. His multidisciplinary scholarship draws from public health, political science, international relations, economics, law, and business to address public health policy challenges locally and globally.
