Associate Professor Flavio Romero Macau is the Associate Dean for Business Systems and Operations at the School of Business and Law, Edith Cowan University. An Associate Professor of Supply Chain Management, he holds a Doctor of Business Administration (2010), Master of Business Administration (2005), Diploma of Quality Engineering (2000), and Degree of Mechanical Engineer (1997), all obtained from Brazilian institutions. Macau brings substantial industry experience from the automotive, agroindustry, and resources sectors, including work with companies such as Mercedes-Benz, BIOSEV, Anglo American, and NEXA Resources. Throughout his career, he has contributed to over 120 short-term consulting projects, supervised more than 20 research projects in the past decade, and delivered lectures in over 70 units to more than 2,500 students.
Macau's research specializations include Supply Chain Management, Global Logistics, Last Mile Delivery, Business Analytics and Information Systems, and Project Management. He has earned awards such as the 2022 ECU Expert Media Commentary Award, 2022 Most Widely Read Story by an ECU researcher in The Conversation, 2021 ECU Expert Media Commentary Award, 2020 Outstanding Public Engagement Award from ECU, 2016 Lecturer Honorific Award for Excellence in Teaching and Learning from INSPER, and 2008 Case Study Writing Award (1st Place) from FGV/EAESP. Macau chaired a panel at the 2022 Supply Chain Ministerial Forum invited by the US Government with ministers from over 25 countries, has been a panellist and keynote speaker at CeMAT and ANZAM conferences, and contributes to the WA Freight Reference Group.
